What is a remainder?
Remainders are books which no longer sell fast enough to meet the publishers accounting needs. These books may in fact still be nearly best sellers, but the warehouse space is needed for the next best seller. Many remainders were originally over priced and sell better as remainders than they did at full price.

What is a hurt?
Hurts are returns from retailers which buy books on a returnable basis from publishers. Unlike remainders, hurts are often still in print and may include current best sellers. Most hurts are actually in very good condition, though some do show minor signs of wear.
